Cracker cracking down on Escorts ads
« on: August 30, 2009, 01:09:06 PM »
Heres a post I just placed on the Cracker Forum.  They have been slack lately so anyone else having the same problems make your voices heard.  Or vote with your feet too thats what Im doing.

Ads not working - No one emails back - Other problem posts being deleted - OMG its 1984

An error occured please contact support. An error occured please contact support.

My ads have been pending for about 4 days now. I created another two cracker usernames to try to see if it was a problem with my username and well that has made it worse. Now I have two usernames that say "An error occured please contact support." when I try to login.
What makes matters worse is that I try to email "Support" and there is no email for them. I've sent one to info at cracker but have yet to hear back anything. What I think has happened is someone in the Cracker management has made a decision that all Sensitive ads need to be reviewed, without looking at how long this will take. 48 hours is the quoted timeframe for approval but obviously it is taking far longer and in my case has broken my username.
Luckily Im only a free user so I can get over it and go elsewhere. I feel for the people who have paid for advertising as you are owed an explaination. I wonder what cracker will do when the flood of emails demanding money back will come. I know I would be if I paid for a week of advertising that didnt happen.
Anyone looking for an alternative try www.australiaadultfun.com . Ads free and posted immediately guaranteed.
Oh I just tried to post this in a reply to another forum topic which since got deleted, presumably not by the person that started it. What the hell is going on with cracker these days??????????

This was a reply from Cracker dated the 28/08/09 in the forums.

Over the last week, we have experienced some unforseen technical difficulties with our support email system and for this reason there have been minor delays in responding to queries. We endeavour to get back to everyone as soon as we possibly can. We thank you for your patience during this period and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Also, Cracker has recently implemented a reviewing process for all ads before publishing to our website. This is to ensure they comply with the advertising guidelines and an effort to provide all of our customers a high quality service and experience on Cracker.
There are many ads to be approved daily, and it may take up to 48 business hours before you ad is published on our website. This process occurs everytime you make changes to your ad. You can check the status of your ad under "Manage My Ads" section.
We appreciate and value your participation on the website and look forward to continuing our advertising service to you.
I have tried to contact them several times as my Ads have been deleted and I am unsure as to the reason why. Hopefully soon they will reply so I can get it up and running again.

Yep thats the speel that I read too. A few things that a clearly amiss:
1. "minor delays in responding" - Ive not heard anything for a week now. For someone paying for weekly advertising this isnt minor
2. "up to 48 business hours" - I take it this means 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week?? So that means you post and ad, pay for it and then 6 working days later its published?? Ok to me that seems a tad extreme and Im asking myself why pay for that??
All in all I can't understand the kneejerk reaction to presumably changes in Adult Advertising laws. Vote with you feet people, take your advertising money someplace else. Id like to know what percentage of revenue Cracker gets from "Adult" ads. If suddenly that is gone I wonder if their review policy would suddenly become a lot less hassle for the end users.

Di steps up on soapbox...

I have been a paid advertiser with Cracker for a little over 2 years, in that time I have toured Melbourne and had 2 paid ads running simutaneously without incidence. Recently (august/september) I was again to tour Melb in approx 3 weeks time, so paid the $80 for the 28 days of ad... The ad went straight up in the Melb section and my usual ad was still running Brisbane. about 2 days later, a client emailed me asking if I was still coming to Melb seeings my ads were no longer up on Cracker, When I went to login to check what was goin on myself, I found that I was unable to log in at all and that both my ads were indeed gone! So I sent a message off to info@cracker asking what was happening..  a day or 2 later I still had not heard anything, so I sent an urgent message to banned@cracker  a day later I recieved the following back...

"Thank you for your email.

In good will, we have re-activated your premium ad for you. Please note that you can only have one active ad displaying on the site as advertising multiple ads of the same nature is considered to be "flooding" our site which is a form of spam.

This is stated in out Terms and Conditions and applies to all users posting free and paid ads. You may review or Terms and Conditions as well as our General Help page at the links below:"

I was Livid...  I had lost my Paid Brisbane ad (only a few days old - there went $80) with over 50k hits on it, but I had my Melbourne ad up with no picture. When they reinstated my account, I had lost the copy for my Brisbane ad and the pictures and the hit totals...

I would like to know how advertising in 2 different states constitutes flooding when I was advertising a tour for 3 days!  I have since seen workers with 2 free ads running in the same section (brisbane) and notice that they don't have them taken down...

I have not put up a paid ad with them since! And I would like to think I will never have to, but unfortunately too many guys use that site to find WL so I may have to!  But it will be under sufferance.

We need to start telling everyone about alternative sites that they can find ladies...  I would like to suggest when emailing or talking to clients or mates on forums or what not that you mention sites like this where they can find you other than on Cracker.

I did consider going to dept of fair trading but I doubt that I would have gotten too far... but if you have a story that you can verify and prove (with emails and the like) please contact me and we might have a better chance together.

Di gets off soapbox (feeling better)

Have a great day...

Yeah i had the same problem with cracker, They just take too long to approve your ad, I have found jumboclassifieds.com.au wich is better and i have gotten more responses than cracker, and always approved within 2hrs, also the premium fee is only $14.99 so worth it, I like how i can have my featured ad up within 2hrs. Worth a try
